Founder & CEO

Daniel Schmitz

Daniel started Boston Battery in 2012 based on a desire to apply his energy towards building a successful, enduring enterprise. He believes that we all have a choice where and how we spend our working hours, and created a culture where we all choose to maximize our potential, as a company and as individuals. Daniel encourages transparency and maintains open dialogue with every individual so we can achieve our goals, as one team.

Prior to Boston Battery, Daniel worked at Matrix Partners, a venture capital firm, where he managed a portfolio of publicly traded technology stocks.  Prior to that he worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley & Co in London, and at Auerbach, Pollak & Richardson, Inc., a broker dealer in New York.​

Daniel grew up in Germany and received his BA from Brown University and his MBA from Columbia Business School.

He lives in Boston with his wife and two young children, and enjoys golf, skiing, tennis and windsurfing.

VP, Wholesale

Nathan Stawiecki

Nathan joined the battery industry in 2000 and held various roles throughout his long career. In 2012, he joined Boston Battery and as VP, Wholesale, Nathan is responsible for the successful daily operations for our 3 Interstate Battery distributorships: Greater Boston, Greater Philadelphia, and Northern Jersey.

Nathan works closely with his team to ensure Boston Battery is the top producing distributor in the Interstate Battery System.  His natural leadership style enables his team to utilize their own talents and strengths resulting in one of the most successful teams in the industry.

Nathan graduated from Nichols College with a bachelor’s degree in business management and finance. Nathan is a lifelong resident of Webster, MA where he currently resides with his wife and 6 children. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities like golfing, hunting, and fishing.  Nathan is also very involved in youth sports and is proud to coach and serve on the board of the local girls’ softball organization, as the Vice President and travel team coordinator.

Director, Human Resources

Tracey Marinucci

Tracey began her career in human resources in 2004 and held a variety of HR positions over the span of her career. With a primary interest in the blue-collar industry, she worked at both private & public companies, of all sizes. Tracey has a passion for people and throughout her career, leaders have trusted her guidance and advice on business decisions related to people and culture. 

Tracey joined the team in late 2022 and is responsible for managing all aspects of the HR function at Boston Battery. She closely partners with the leadership team to ensure we have a highly engaged, high performing team and are proud of our culture of trust and accountability.  Along with leaders, Tracey and her team strive to make Boston Battery the premier employer of choice and are dedicated to maintaining a positive culture by ensuring our people have an enjoyable employment experience, have access to benefits that matter and by welcoming and embracing the differences in others, as one team.

​Tracey lives in Massachusetts with her husband, children, & 2 dogs. In her free time, she enjoys vacationing, shopping, paddleboarding, hiking and anything else to keep active.

VP, Finance & Administration

Shelly Scorpio

Shelly joined Boston Battery in June 2018 as the Director of Finance and was recently promoted to Vice President of Finance and Administration.  Shelly brings many years of Accounting and Cost Accounting experience to the Company which ensures accountability and controls throughout the organization.  Shelly manages the accounting staff and ensures accurate and timely reporting of our financials to the owner and to our banking partners.  

Shelly also plays a significant role in our I.T. infrastructure for the entire organization; to include database queries, hardware/software support, MS Teams phone integration and her latest accomplishment being an ERP financial system implementation and new point of sale implementation for our retail stores.

When Shelly is not actively crunching numbers, she is reading, crafting, traveling and generally just spending quality time with her husband and two teacup yorkies, Lacey and Sophie.

VP, Cooling & Franchise

Stephen Phelan

Steve joined the Boston Battery team in 2016.  As Vice President of Boston Battery Franchise and Boston Cooling Wholesale, his primary focus is providing the tools and support his team needs to successfully run the daily operations of our locations throughout the Greater Boston and New Jersey markets. Responsible for meeting the sales, operational, financial, and safety goals established by the Leadership Team at Boston Battery, he works closely with both division team members to achieve results while encouraging a safe, fun work atmosphere.  

 

Prior to joining Boston Battery, Steve spent over ten years in the wireless communications industry as a Franchisee of Verizon Wireless.  He successfully owned and operated four retail locations in the Rhode Island market, as well as providing consulting services to other Franchisees looking to improve their business results.

 

His continued passion for entrepreneurship keeps him busy during his down time, always networking with other business-minded people and exploring opportunities for consultation and investment
